Background

Katie is currently a Ph.D. student in the Astrophysical Sciences and Technology Program. She completed her Master’s in physics RIT studying black holes and their accretion disks. Previously she studied physics at James Madison University and worked on modeling the iron fluorescent emission line originating from the inner regions of supermassive black hole accretion disks. Here at RIT, she has been working with Dr. Campanelli’s group on ray-tracing around binary black hole systems. She is currently working with the general relativistic ray-tracing code Bothros, and adapting this code to include an analytical accretion disk model of a binary system.
